Grand Green Osaka 2026 Guide: Osaka Station Access, Open Areas and Umekita Park

Grand Green Osaka is an urban park and mixed-use district of shops, offices and hotels immediately north of JR Osaka Station. In 2026, it is easy to combine an Umekita Park walk with a meal or shopping in Umeda, and it also works as a break after arriving at Osaka Station.

The whole project is not yet complete. The official plan schedules the approximately 0.9-hectare Umekita Forest to open on November 20, 2026, the remaining approximately 1,400 square metres of park around spring 2027, and the overall district opening in fiscal 2027.

How long to allow: 30–60 minutes for the park alone, or two to three hours with dining and shopping. Construction routes, events and lawn maintenance zones can change, so follow same-day signs and official notices.

From Osaka Station: find the Umekita Underground Gate

For a first visit, follow signs inside JR Osaka Station for the Umekita Underground Gate or Grand Green Osaka. You can also walk from Osaka Metro Umeda, Higashi-umeda and Nishi-umeda stations and from Hankyu or Hanshin Osaka-Umeda stations. Umeda’s underground network has many branches, so allow an extra 10–15 minutes.

  1. Check the direction of the Umekita Underground Gate before or after the ticket gate.
  2. Decide whether your first destination is the North Building, South Building or park.
  3. For meeting points, name a specific gate or facility instead of saying only “Osaka Station.”

There is no car or bicycle parking inside Umekita Park itself. Drivers should check the facility parking guide in advance; public transport is often easier on weekends and event days.

How to enjoy Umekita Park and follow its rules

The station-side park combines lawns, water features, paths and public art. It suits a shopping break or late-afternoon walk. Most of the park is open 24 hours except for shops, toilets and other specified facilities, but that does not mean every service operates around the clock.

  • Obey closures for lawn care, construction or events.
  • Pet rules vary by location, so use the official guidance and on-site signs.
  • Do not block paths with photography equipment or long-term space saving.
  • From summer into early autumn, carry water, a hat and sun protection.

Dining and shopping: check each business

The North and South buildings and park-side areas contain restaurants, cafés, shops and wellness services. Hours, closing days and temporary shortened schedules vary, so check the official shop and restaurant directory on the day.

Facilities, accessibility and large luggage

The official facility guide lists accessible toilets, nursing rooms, a children’s toilet, a prayer room, coin lockers, stroller rental, ATMs, a foreign-currency exchange machine and free Wi-Fi. Locations and service hours vary by building.

  • Wheelchairs: The official FAQ says wheelchairs are not available to borrow, so arrange one independently if required.
  • Large luggage: Locker size and availability are not guaranteed. Hotel storage or station-area luggage services may be more reliable.
  • Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available; follow the connection instructions posted on site.

Itineraries by available time

  • About 45 minutes: Umekita Underground Gate → South Park lawn and water area → Osaka Station.
  • About two hours: Park walk → meal in the North or South Building → short shopping stop.
  • Half day: Grand Green Osaka → Grand Front Osaka → a Umeda observation facility. Check that facility’s hours and last admission separately.
