For a family amusement-park day in Tohoku, start with two actual ride parks: Yagiyama Beny Land in Sendai, Miyagi, and Lina World near Kaminoyama, Yamagata. They offer different travel logistics. The former is easy to reach by subway from central Sendai; the latter is a seasonal outing that requires more careful transport planning. This guide replaces an earlier version with garbled names and unverified venues.
Which park is easier for your trip?
- Staying in Sendai or avoiding a car: Yagiyama Beny Land is about a five-minute walk from Yagiyama Zoological Park Station’s East 1 exit, according to the park’s official access guide.
- Staying near Yamagata or Kaminoyama Onsen: Lina World is a family ride park in Kaminoyama. Check the park’s bus and access information before choosing a date.
Yagiyama Beny Land, Miyagi
Beny Land has both family rides and more energetic attractions. Its ticket system separates admission from ride tickets; the free pass includes admission and many rides, but the operator says some attractions are excluded. Compare your group’s likely number of rides on the official ticket page rather than assuming entry alone covers everything. The park also advises checking age and height restrictions for individual attractions.
The published usual hours are 9:15 a.m.–4:45 p.m., but the official FAQ says weather, season and other circumstances can change them. Confirm the operating calendar and ride status on the day of your visit. A subway-based visit can pair naturally with other Yagiyama-area activities, but buy each venue’s ticket separately.
Lina World, Yamagata
Lina World offers rides for a range of ages. It is seasonal: the official Yamagata tourism site lists a planned 2026 season from 14 March through 23 November, with different hours and closed days within that period. Do not infer that it is open throughout winter, and check the operator’s latest calendar before traveling.
The park distinguishes admission-only tickets, ride tickets and an attraction-inclusive free pass. Its 2026 park guide also lists ride-specific age and height rules and notes that operations can be suspended without notice. From Kaminoyama Onsen or Yamagata, confirm the current bus timetable, especially the last return service; the park’s access page is the right starting point.
Before leaving
- Check the exact date’s opening hours and any ride suspension notices.
- Compare admission plus individual ride tickets with a free pass for your family.
- Review height limits before promising a specific ride to a child.
- For Lina World, plan the return bus as carefully as the outward journey. For Beny Land, use the subway station listed by the operator.
The previous article also listed an Iwate winter resort and a vague Akita park as amusement parks. Those entries have been removed because they were not supported as comparable ride-park recommendations. For another region’s family-park comparison, see our Hokkaido amusement parks guide.
