長崎県・グラバー園は、幕末から明治時代にかけて長崎に居留した外国人商人たちの旧宅を集めた歴史的観光スポット。1859年の長崎開港後、多くの外国人がこの地に移り住み、異国情緒あふれる洋館を建てました。グラバー園の中心となるのは、スコットランド出身の商人トーマス・グラバーの旧宅で、現存する日本最古の木造洋風建築として国の重要文化財に指定されています。
園内には、グラバー旧宅のほかにも、リンガー旧宅やオルト旧宅など、当時の英国商人たちの邸宅がそのまま保存されています。それぞれの洋館は、和洋折衷のユニークな建築様式が見どころ。石畳の庭園やバラの花々も美しく、季節ごとに異なる表情を楽しめます。
🏛 グラバー園の見どころ
トーマス・グラバー旧宅：1863年築。木造平屋建てのコロニアル様式で、ベランダが特徴的。内部には当時の調度品が並び、居留地時代の暮らしを想像できます。
旧リンガー邸：1868年築。グラバー園内でも特に写真映えする白い洋館。現在はレストランとして営業し、庭を眺めながら食事が楽しめます。
旧オルト邸：1865年築。グラバー商会の支配人が住んでいた建物。屋根裏部屋にも上がることができ、当時の長崎港の景色を一望できます。
🗾 長崎の西洋建築散策
グラバー園だけでなく、長崎市内には大浦天主堂（国宝）、旧羅典神学校、東山手洋風住宅群など、多くの西洋建築が点在しています。「南山手・東山手地区」は重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に指定されており、石畳の坂道を歩けば、まるでタイムスリップしたかのような気分に。
グラバー園からの帰り道には、オランダ坂や活水学院の赤レンガ校舎などもチェック。グラバースカイロード（長崎観光用の動く歩道）も整備され、坂の多い長崎でも快適に散策できます。

長崎といえばちゃんぽんと皿うどん。開港後、中国からの留学生に出された料理がルーツと言われています。グラバー園の近くには老舗のちゃんぽん店も多く、観光のついでに味わうのがおすすめ。また、カステラも長崎が発祥の地。グラバー園内でも販売されています。
